About Us

Asset 3

Fishing isn't just a job for me; it’s a three-generation legacy that started in the marshes of Louisiana and has become the heartbeat of my life. After a decade of guiding and building a successful lodge in Louisiana, I moved to Florida in 2020 to launch Florida Fishing Co., a family-owned operation born out of a passion for high-end service and the incredible diversity of the Anna Maria Island fishery.

To me, fishing isn’t just about the catch—it’s about the people.

I’ve been guiding for over 10 years now, and I still have the privilege of fishing with some of my very first clients. Why? Because my goal isn’t just to put fish in the box (though we definitely do that); it’s to create lifelong memories for you and your family.

When you step onto my boat, I want you to feel the camaraderie and the excitement of the lifestyle I’ve fallen in love with. From the moment you arrive at the dock until the moment you leave, my team and I take care of absolutely everything—bait, gear, tackle, and even cleaning your fish at no extra charge. I want your only job to be reeling them in and soaking it all up.

Three Generations Of Saltwater

Fishing is in my blood. My grandfather was an Alaskan fisherman from Northern California who moved down to Louisiana during the oil boom of the 80s. When he passed away, my dad actually gave up fishing for a while because the memories were too heavy. But I was persistent. I eventually talked him into buying a used 20-foot center console, and we started going out every Saturday.

We weren’t catching much at first, but that led us to book a few trips to learn the ropes. I was 12 years old when my dad took me on a guided trip in Louisiana with a captain named Jody Dunwire. We were throwing gold spoons for Redfish, and that was the spark. Seeing a professional guide at work lit a fire in me that never went out.

Florida Was Always Calling My Name

My path back to the water wasn’t a straight line. I went to college in Atlanta, got really into golf, and by 23, I started a shutter company in Louisiana. I sold that business at 28 and took a year off, filling my time with Redfish tournaments. A guy at my local marina suggested I get my captain’s license, and my entrepreneurial spirit kicked back in.

I built a successful guide service and lodge in Louisiana, but I eventually felt a pull toward Florida. I wanted to improve my quality of life and take my business to the next level. I came down for ICAST in Orlando and just fell in love with the place. Thanks to some good friends from Flats Mafia who opened doors for me, I found my way to the coast.

I explored all around Tampa, but the moment I stepped onto Anna Maria Island, I knew this was it. I don't believe that choice had anything to do with me; that came from up top.

Family Owned & Operated

The saltwater is my office. I can’t sit behind a desk five days a week; I’d lose my mind. In fact, I went 17 days without being on the water during my honeymoon and almost went crazy!

Today, I love capturing the action on camera, growing our brand, and sharing this passion with my family. I met my wife right here on the West Coast of Florida, and now my son is filming TV shows with me and landing Tarpon.

We are a family-owned and operated business, and when you fish with us, we treat you like family, too.

Stingray 253

Our brand-new 2025 Stingray 253 takes nearshore fishing to the next level. Twin 200 Suzukis provide plenty of power, while dual 12" Garmin displays with 1,000 ft LiveScope, 1kw transducer, down scan, side scan, and Garmin Kraken technology give you an unmatched view of what's below.

The patented Z-Plane hull design is a game-changer, its reverse-Z hull creates high bow lift, keeping the hull out of the water for a dry, comfortable ride even in rough conditions.
