Scalloping Homosassa

Scalloping is a popular activity in Florida because it is relatively easy to do and does not require a lot of gear. All you need is a mask, snorkel, and fins and a boat or Guide. Scallops are found in shallow waters, so you don’t have to go far out into the Gulf to find them. The best place to scallop is in Crystal River and Homosassa. These two towns are located on the Nature Coast of Florida and offer some of the best scalloping in the state. Scallops can be found in the grass flats near these towns.

Locating the Scallop Grounds

If you don’t have a boat, no worries! There are many Scallop Guides and Charters that will take you out to the best scalloping spots. Scalloping season in Florida runs from July through September, so now is the perfect time to book a Scallop Guide or charter.

Crystal River / Homosassa Scalloping

You can’t beat the beauty of Scalloping in Homosassa and Crystal River. It’s like Easter egg hunting, but with snorkelers who pick up their treasure from clear waters teeming over marine life including different types of tropical fish crabs sponges various corals while picking them off Gulf coast beaches! All ages will enjoy this outing as there are plenty opportunities for both kids and adults to go scouring – it doesn’t matter if you’re shy because everyone needs some time out by the sea every now then.

It is an experience like no other to swim with scallops. Their shells can be found throughout the waters of Florida, usually at depths between 4-8 feet but sometimes as deep 12 or more! They open and close together in order make their way through water while glowing brightly like blue gems around what looks like shell’s mouth – which makes them easy enough for divers such us ourselves who just need a few minutes away from our busy lives back on land so we too may enjoy this amazing world beneath the waves unnoticed by most humans unless they shine Lighting up my life.

This is a perfect way to end the day and it’s an even better way to relax after a long week of work! Scalloping is also great for family bonding as it brings everyone together in search of these delectable bites. So if you’re ever feeling stressed, just remember there are scallops out there waiting to be found… and eaten!

Crystal River / Homosassa Scalloping

When you think of seafood, scallops are probably not the first thing that comes to mind. But this little gem is a delicious and healthy option for those looking to enjoy some fresh ocean flavor without having too much oil or butter added into their diet! If 10 gallons worth of these tasty treats yield about 1 quart meat (which can then be used in recipes), imagine how many hours went into catching them?

If you find yourself in the area during scalloping season, be sure to book a Scallop Guide or charter and enjoy this unique Florida experience!

Now that you know where to find the best scalloping in Florida, as well as what gear you need, it’s time to start planning your Scallop Season adventure!

What are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy Scallop Season!
