The scalloping season typically runs from late July through early September, but this year it started a bit earlier (July 1st) and is expected to run through mid-September. Gag Grouper fishing in September is heating up along the Florida coast as water temperatures begin to cool off. Gag Grouper are prized for their tender meat and robust flavor, making them a popular choice among sport fishermen and seafood enthusiasts alike.

Gag are commonly found along the outer barrier reefs of Florida and other Gulf states, and they are best targeted during the fall season when they start to aggregate into large schools.
